Tim Zhao

Tim received his B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2024. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University. His research interests include high-bandwidth magnetic sensors for extreme energy applications. During his undergraduate studies, Tim spearheaded the design, fabrication, and testing of no-insulation high-temperature superconducting (HTS) racetrack coils for superconducting electric machines ranging from 300 kW to 10 MW. Since that time, Tim has actively collaborated with members of the Center for Power Optimization for Electro-Thermal Systems (POETS). Tim is committed to advancing high-bandwidth magnetic sensor technology for the reliable monitoring and control of robust energy facilities while cultivating partnerships with various institutes throughout the process.
